J is for Joy

It's week ten of Alphabe-Thursday!

J is for Joy...

Joy is one of my favourite words. Whenever I see it I can't help but smile. For me everything that is exciting and magical about the world can be found in that beautiful word - joy. I love it! :-)

Joy can be found anywhere we choose to see it. Even when things are hard and we're feeling low there is always something joyful to discover, or be reminded of, in our lives. Joy is a lot like love; it has the power to embrace us in a warm hug and make all our problems fade away. Joy is more than just a pleasant emotion - it's a state of being that bubbles up from the depths of our soul to enrich our lives. Joy is an expression of our elated selves, the part of us that knows no bounds, the part that meets the world with open arms and overflows with pure delight and happiness. That part exists within you. Let it out!

Joy is one of life's precious gifts. I believe it is important to fill our days with joy. It only takes a moment of our time to do something just for the fun of it, just to feel the joy. Sing a song, dance around your house, tell a joke, smile! :-) Even just a few priceless minutes of joy in your day can do wonders for your soul. Anything that brings us joy is infinitely valuable.

I choose to find joy in the simple things - a sunny day, a gooey chocolate dessert, a smile from my husband, a day out at the cinema, reading the paper on a saturday morning, laughing, singing, dancing. All these things make my heart leap with joy.

What brings you joy?

  1. If we stop for a moment and really focus on some of the everyday things, we will find that they bring us happiness, maybe not BIG GUSHING IN YOUR FACE delight, but a small, slow steady infusion of joy. Having my children be happy in their endeavors gives me joy. Hearing my husband laugh about something I have said gives me joy. Seeing some of the absolutely clownlike things my sweet Maggie Poodle does delights me. Looking at the sweetness in little children just does it for me too. Geese flying in formation, honking. A horse rolling in the mud - usually moments after you have spend hours grooming them! Beautiful gorgeous artwork, old and new. Songs that touch the heart or soul. Books, that when I finish reading them, I realize they will have a lasting memory for me. Beehives- the absolute gloriousness of the honeybee. So many things. Not always huge, just people and things that make me stop and realize how fortunate I am.
Beautiful choice for letter J post.

  2. Perfect J word...can't beat that uplifting spirit of the JOY found all around us if only we look♫

  3. I love this post, Erin! I usually associate the word "joy" with the holiday season, but it really goes beyond that -- thanks for the reminder. I do take joy in simple things. The one that comes to mind is when I step into the shower and find that my husband has placed a brand new, fresh bar of soap in the dish, when I'm expecting a sliver. lol

  4. Wonderful post for 'J' and you are one 'enlightened' woman.
